What I've Been Doing...

So, I see it's been awhile since I last posted. This month sure flew by. Well, I've completed a couple of paintings and a commission. I'm working on several other paintings right now.

The urgency is May 2nd & 3rd is the Annual Spring Art Show and Open Studios at the Indian Orchard Mills (where I have my studio). It's located in Indian Orchard, Massachusetts (a part of Springfield). At this point, there are over 50 artist & artisans there. It's a fun time to check out everyones work, maybe buy some gifts, meet the artists (like me for instance), have some wine and cheese, get some culture.

Since my husband and I remodeled the living room of our home, eight of my major paintings are on the walls and staying there. While this is very nice, there are many empty spots on my studio walls. So I have to work like crazy to fix this problem and have everything go smoothly for the show. That doesn't even count all the matted prints and greeting cards I have to make as well. That is why I haven't posted recently. Twice a year it happens, then I have the rest of the year to recover (just kidding, I then focus on promoting my work other places).

I'm sorry I won't be showing my new work on here until after the show. I kind of like there being a mystery for those who are coming to see the work with fresh eyes. After the show, I then will post the new work here and on my website.

If anyone is interested, I have an eCrater Store where I sell my matted prints and paintings. The link is: Fine Art of Renee Rutana

Well, that's all for now. I've got to get back to work.

Two Cape Cod ACEO Paintings

Hi! I've been busy painting. I'm currently working on several large works, but I had a little extra time to paint and list these two small paintings.

I've listed these two acrylic Cape Cod ACEO paintings in my eCrater Store:

Here is the link to my eCrater Store where I sell my matted prints and paintings. The link is: Fine Art of Renee Rutana

In case you're not familiar with what an ACEO is, it's an artist's trading card. The size is: 2.5" x 3.5", I put them each in a clear sleeve to protect them. These two are original paintings on Arches Hot Press 140 lb. Watercolor paper.

Thanks for looking!

Renee

Studio Time

Yesterday I finally got to go to my studio and work on a nice Oil Painting. I'm pretty excited about it. It's 24" x 30" and my first Rowboat painting in oils. There are a lot of blues and a pale peach color so far. My plan is to finish this painting before the first week in May. The reason being is that's when all the artists here have a Spring Open Studio Show/Sale.

This last December we remodeled the living room and hung MANY of my paintings up (7 good sized paintings to be exact). Now that they're up, my husband doesn't want me to sell them. I still have the three rose paintings hanging at that gallery, so my studio walls are looking very sparse. So now I had to work hard to have fresh work up and no empty spaces. It's a pretty big challenge, but my ability to produce more (quality) paintings is getting better.

Next month, I'll be having my work up at a local homemade ice cream shop.

More about that later, and when I finish the new Oil Rowboat painting, I'll post it here. Currently, I'm working on a commission of a Hibiscus Flower painting.

Cheers!

Autumn Painting

Well, I was hoping to list it before Wednesday, but had an extremely busy weekend. Still working on the painting.

On a personal note, this was my weekend:

Friday evening: attended a dance with my daughter at her preschool. Then brought her home, went out to Barnes & Noble with friend. Read and sipped on a Green Tea Latte at Starbuck's

Saturday: attended a Lia Sophia Jewelry Party with another friend, painted, celebrated anniversary with husband by going out to dinner and then saw a movie (National Treasure II)

Sunday: attended a Train Hobbyist expo with family, painted, grocery shopping, and then had a birthday party at my house for my mother's boyfriend.

So, that's why I didn't finish this painting.

Saturday Stuff

Today I'm working on a Fall Painting. I'm hoping to list it before Wednesday. It has the usual Autumn Leaves, Birch Trees, a large tree in the foreground and a lake. The size is 11" x 14". I'll post it here when it's finished.

I also have an 18" x 18" with a 1 3/8 thick gallery wrapped canvas painting sketched and waiting for paint.

A New Painting

Well, 2008 has started off nicely. No big issues, paintings in the works and a group show in February in Easthampton, Massachusetts at the d'Art Gallery (I'll talk more about that later).

I just finished a painting:

Calling Me Home

Size: 18" x 14", Acrylic on Gallery-wrapped Canvas, and posted it on ebay.

This is one of my popular subjects I paint. I don't know what it is about Rowboats, but I enjoy painting them. And apparently, other folks like them too.

I sold this painting on ebay. Check out my ebay store for other paintings and auctions.

I've been trying to build up a collection of works to approach a gallery, but, it seems, I keep selling my most recent paintings (not a bad thing, actually good) and not having a large inventory left. Anyway, I'm happy that others like my work. I'll just have to paint more.

As I create more, I'll regularly post them here.
Thanks for visiting, Renee
